Mayfield’s Walk-Off Gives Jackson Red Devils Varsity Victory Over Monticello

 Jackson Red Devils Varsity took Tuesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 10-9 walk-off victory over Monticello. The game was tied at nine with Jackson Red Devils Varsity batting in the bottom of the eighth when Braelyn Mayfield was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Jackson Red Devils Varsity collected nine hits and Monticello had 15.

Monticello captured the lead in the second inning. Monticello scored one run when Stone singled.

Lexy Hensley led things off in the circle for Jackson Red Devils Varsity. She lasted eight innings, allowing 15 hits and nine runs while striking out two and walking one.

Barton led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Monticello. She went seven and a third innings, allowing ten runs on nine hits and striking out six.

Jackson Red Devils Varsity totaled nine hits. Emily HysonKaitlin Lynn, and Joanna Bailey each managed multiple hits for Jackson Red Devils VarsityBaileyLynn, and Hyson each collected two hits to lead Jackson Red Devils Varsity.

Monticello tallied 15 hits in the game. StoneParrishSandsBartonRobinson, and Guli all had multiple hits for Monticello. Stone went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Monticello in hits.
