The Red Devils soccer team enters Spring Break with an 8-6 record.
The team has had some impressive wins this year over tough area competition. Early in the year, the Red Devils beat each of their nearby rivals, Lamar County High School and Mary Persons High School, 2-1 each. In both games, the opponents scored first and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. After making some adjustments, the Red Devils came out and fought to tie the score at 1-1 to end regulation. After a scoreless overtime in each game, the Red Devils came out on top 2-1 after kicks from the mark. The Red Devils also posted non-region victories over Monticello 5-2, Locust Grove 2-1, Dutchtown 2-1, and Henry County 3-0.
In Region 4-AAA competition, the Red Devils sit at 2-2. Traveling to Pike County and Peach County in consecutive weeks proved a tough test with the boys falling in both contests. They rebounded nicely with a win at a tough win at Westside 2-0 closing out the away portion of the region schedule 1-2. Opening the home region schedule in style, the Red Devils beat Kendrick High School 7-1 to even their record at 2-2 in Region play. With wins in their last 2 games, the Red Devils could secure the 3 seed heading into the GHSA AAA State Playoffs. This would mark an improvement over last year when the Red Devils entered the tournament as a 4 seed.
The Red Devils next play next Tuesday after Spring Break at Stockbridge High School before hosting Central High School at home on 4/12 for Senior Night.
